Values

Our core values outline how we move toward the fulfillment of our ministry vision. The following are our unifying core values:

1. We value the congregation We are disciples of Yahshua in mutual and loving accountability in Yahweh. Commitment to fellowship based on honor and respect leads to strong interpersonal relationships. (Matthew 16:18, 1 Timothy 3:15, 1 John 1:7, Romans 12:5, 10, 1 Corinthians 12:25, 1 Peter 2:17)

2. We value the priesthood of the believer – Every believer in Messiah has been given spiritual gifts by the Holy Spirit and is called to serve. Ministry leaders prepare and equip believers for service through training, counsel, and encouragement. The congregation gives opportunities to each member for service. (Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Peter 2:9, 4:10-11, Luke 10:38-42, Revelation 5:10, Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:8-11)

3. We value unity of faith – The Bible is the final authority. Our Articles of Faith articulate our unity of beliefs. We strive for unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace and are committed to speaking the truth in love. We refrain from gossip and slanderous speech. (Amos 3:3, Psalm 133:1, Ephesians 4:3, 13, 15, 25, 31, Proverbs 26:20, Psalm 15:1-3)

4. We value leadership for effective ministry – Yahweh calls leaders and others recognize that calling. A congregational ministry is established when a leader is raised up. We only do those ministries when we have the personnel to properly accomplish the service. (Proverbs 29:18, 1 Timothy 3:5, Ephesians 4:11-13, Titus 1:5, Hebrews 13:17)

5. We value the testimony of Yahshua – We exalt His Name above all others. Evangelism and outreach are taught, conducted and encouraged. We strive to conduct both our lives and all ministry activities with integrity, excellence, and consistent with Scripture in order to magnify the name of Yahshua Ha Mashiach and His Kingdom. (Romans 1:16, Philippians 2:9, 2 Timothy 1:8, Psalm 16:3, Daniel 6:3, 1 Corinthians 14:12)

6. We value a Messianic form of worship – We are committed to worshiping in Spirit and in Truth. Tradition has its place but must not conflict with or overshadow the truth of the Word. As believers in the Jewish Messiah, we express our faith in a culturally-relevant religious context (terminology, biblical holy days, Jewish holidays, etc).  (Romans 11:1-2, John 4:23-24, 1 Corinthians 11:2, 2 Thess. 2:15)

7. We value our marriages and our children – The congregation provides instruction in the faith in a Hebraic frame of reference. A congregation is only as strong as its families, and our children are our spiritual legacy (Genesis 2:18, 21-24, Hebrews 13:4, Ephesians 5:31, Psalm 127:3, Proverbs 5:18, 17:6, 22:6)

8. We value discipleship – We have personal and group discipleship for all. Members are disciples. (Matthew 28:19-20, Isaiah 8:16, Luke 6:40)

9. We value prayer – Yahshua said that His Father’s house would be called a house of prayer. We place a priority on both individual and corporate prayer. (Proverbs 15:29, James 5:16, 1 Peter 3:12, Acts 1:14, 12:12, Ephesians 6:18)

10. We value living in and walking by the Spirit – We walk by faith and not by sight, empowered by Ruach haKodesh (the Holy Spirit) as overcomers, and we live by the proceeding Word. (Galatians 5:25, Romans 8:14, 37, 2 Corinthians 5:7, 1 John 5:4, Matthew 4:4, John 6:63)
